Today is my birthday! WOO HOO! And where better to spend it than here in California?
Earlier today we saw an artichoke farm...By far that was my favorite place we have visited! I mean seriously, it's not everyday that we get to spend the day out in the middle of an artichoke farm! It was amazing.
This afternoon we drove along the Salinas Valley. For an eastern Colorado kid, let me tell you what, the diversity of Agriculture here in this valley is awesome! Whereas I'm used to wheat and cattle, we've seen brusselsprouts, strawberries, cauliflower, cattle, lettuce, broccoli, broccoli-flower and all sorts of other stuff.
Being so close the shore, the Salinas valley is having ground water problems known as sea water intrusion. Basically, because they are pumping the water from the ground, the sea water is moving into the aquifers and polluting the fresh water. We learned all about water recycling and how farmers and other environmentalists are working to slowly fix this problem.
Tonight we had ate at one of the best restaurants ever. It was at the Harris Ranch Restaurant. And let me tell you what...I had the best prime rib ever. I ate so much...I'm pretty sure I loosened my belt by to holes. Hehe. To top everything off, my teammates sang happy birthday and we all shared some delicious dessert!
Today was possibly one of my favorite birthday's ever!
